March Madness Comes to CHC

Students in the Linked-In Workshop

We don’t refer here to the March Madness of brackets and basketballs, but rather to a week in March that is full of activities—workshops, presentations and even a Carnival—developed by the staff of Career Development.

The Carnival on March 9 kicks everything off, with various stations set up around Fitzsimmons to help students learn how best to utilize social media in their job searches; how to dress when going on an interview; and even how to nail an interview.

Other activities throughout the week include an in-depth LinkedIn workshop; Interview prep and tips and an alumni meet and greet, where students have the opportunity to mingle with alums in their field and learn what works and what doesn’t in the work world. An internship information session rounds out the events on March 12.

March Madness offers fun learning and networking opportunities.

See the Career Development site for more details and dates and times.

Education majors – take note.

The Greater Philadelphia Teacher Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at the Expo Center at Oaks. More than 150 school districts from across the country will be represented at the venue which is one of the largest in the country, according to Nancy Dachille, director of career development.

“This job fair is an excellent opportunity for our education majors who have already received their certifications or are close,” she says. “There is a lot of value in meeting with prospective employers face-to-face, and many of our students have gotten teaching positions through their networking at this job fair.”

Pre-register at the Office of Career Development by March 5 and admission is only $5; at the door, admission is $10. For more information, visit www.DVEC.net or contact Andrea Boyle at boylea@chc.edu or 215-248-7109.
