CHC Celebrates in Style

Join the CHC community in ringing in the Christmas season.

At Chestnut Hill College, there has long been a tradition of celebrating the Christmas holiday in style before students return home for winter break. This celebration has become known as "Holiday on the Hill" and it incorporates several holiday-themed events that seek to get the whole campus community, alumni and even the public, involved in the Christmas festivities.

Getting into the spirit of the holiday season is very important to the College community as it is another example of the togetherness and family that is fostered here at Chestnut Hill. The school-wide celebration of the holidays is also something that makes Chestnut Hill College unique.

38th Annual Carol Night - Among the favorite traditions of students, staff and alumni alike, Carol Night returns on Friday, December 5, at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda of St. Joseph Hall. The evening of music features some of the College's primary instrument ensembles as well as the Hill Singers. The beautifully decorated Rotunda and cheerful holiday music is sure to get you in the spirit of the holidays. If that isn't enough, Santa Claus will make a special appearance and to talk to the children about their special holiday wishes. As always, a reception will follow in the East Parlor.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact David Samson at samsond@chc.edu or 215.242.7164

87th Annual Christmas Decorating Night - A special and time-honored tradition at Chestnut Hill College, Christmas Decorating Night returns for the 87th year. The evening, which was born when the first undergraduate class of 1927 decided to decorate around campus. It is now an annual night laughter, joy and warm holiday spirit. Each year the four classes are assigned a theme and through a committee, help to plan how best to utilize their theme around campus. Traditionally, the freshmen decorate the cafeteria; the sophomores outside of the Piazza; the juniors get the honor of the Rotunda; and the seniors get the main hallway. Each class is given a budget and is encouraged to get creative in presenting their theme. The themes are judged and the class with the best representation is awarded a prize.

Breakfast with Santa - Every year, the CHC Alumni Association sponsors a Breakfast with Santa. All ages are invited. This year's breakfast will be on December 14. Check back for more details.
