CHC students, faculty and staff participate in many ways and are changed by their experiences.

Pope Francis was here at Chestnut Hill for a while in late September. Although not in body, most definitely in spirit.

Pope Francis at the Pulpit

I’ve been a fan of Pope Francis since the day he was elected; seeing him emerge on the balcony in St. Peter’s Square and ask for prayers struck my heart as a deeply humble and holy act.  Following his actions and words over the years, I didn’t think I could like the Pope any more than I already did. Then Pope Francis came to Philadelphia.

From the group from Detroit that engaged everyone in a “We love Papa, yes we do," chant, to all the other thousands of visitors, the city transformed for a weekend into a melting pot of pilgrims as we were all there for one reason, to be a part of Pope Francis’ first visit to Philadelphia.

The College community gathered in mid-September for CHC’s annual Opening Liturgy and celebrated the theme, “Love is Our Mission.”

For several years, CHC has followed a November tradition of holding a Fair Trade event during which vendors of food products, jewelry, clothing and other items are invited to sell their wares to the College community and, at the same time, educate these consumers about the meaning and value of purchasing items designated as fair trade

Chestnut Hill College kicked off its sprint football season with a home opening rout of Princeton University, 48-13.

In observance of Constitution Day (Sept. 17), the Students’ Political Science Association (SPSA) sponsored several activities, allowing students, faculty and staff to get a firsthand look at the U.S. Constitution and some of the elements in this document.

Representatives from Pennsylvania government met with Sister Carol this summer and toured campus.

Nick Williams '13, interned through NSF, allowing him to see the world and gain valuable experience in the field of chemistry. Read his story as well as keep updated on alumni events and how to stay in touch with your alma mater, in Alumni Connections.

CHC made additions to the fitness center to improve its quality for students and student athletes. The baseball team welcomed back Owen Frenia from Team IMPACT for a visit and the lacrosse team participated in a fundraiser with their Team IMPACT representative, Zach Notarianni. Read these stories, in Sports Connections.

Alumni, faculty, staff and students continue to make news, and local media continue to take notice. Griffins in the News lists some of the noteworthy mentions in the past weeks.

Did you know that Chestnut Hill College has its own “television” news station?

Coming Events

A great place to keep track of all campus events, activities and public lectures at the College is through our community-wide calendar found at www.chc.edu/calendar.

We hope you enjoy reading Connections as much as we enjoy producing it! Please contact me with news and information from your department; about faculty or staff, a student or about an alum. I follow up on all leads!  Thanks.  Brenda Lange, associate director of communications, langeb@chc.edu 215.248.7110.
