Commencement 2015 processional

May 9, the day of CHC’s 88th Commencement, dawned overcast and chilly. For a short time during the ceremony, heavy rain fell, leaving rivulets running around the feet of those in attendance. And yet, by the time all 531 had received their diplomas, the sun was out, shining on the happiness below.

The Rotunda and Sorgenti Arena were transformed for one magical night in May as 340 friends of Chestnut Hill College celebrated its 90th anniversary as part of the annual Scholarship Gala. This year, 32 alumni also were honored as they were inducted into the Libris Society.

In mid-May, the Department of Professional Psychology earned reaccreditation for its Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology program by the American Psychological Association (APA). 

Three years ago, in an effort to enhance the academic experience and social growth of students, Chestnut Hill College began a program called Themed Living Communities (TLC).

Earth Day is celebrated at CHC.

On April 29 the world celebrated its 45th annual Earth Day, but for Mary Elizabeth Clark, SSJ, caring for Earth is more than just one day. 

Two professors from CHC’s education department recently traveled to Finland to explore the reasons for that country’s consistent ranking at the top of all western, industrialized countries when it comes to education. 

Global Studies students tour the 9-11 Memorial in NYC.

All students at CHC must take the Global Studies course as part of their general education requirement. Section topics include global warming, economic inequality, terrorism and other compelling issues that impact the world’s population at large.

The story of the 70th anniversary of Auschwitz told through the journal of contributing writer, Marie Conn, Ph.D. 

In an effort to spread the word about the Harry Potter Conference held at CHC in October as part of Harry Potter Weekend, and to talk about Chestnut Hill College in general, two professors recently participated in Comic Con at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Center City.
