We hope you enjoy reading Connections as much as we enjoy producing it! Please contact me with news and information from your department; about faculty or staff, a student or about an alum. I follow up on all leads!  Thanks.  Brenda Lange, publications manager, langeb@chc.edu or 215.248.7110.

CHC Legal Studies

Not designed to be a “pre-law” program that provides legal or paralegal training, this minor, instead, encourages students to develop an understanding of the role of our legal system within our civil institutions and explores major legal issues from a multidisciplinary perspective.

During the first week of January, as temperatures plunged, a handful of CHC students returned from winter break early to participate in the College’s Urban Plunge program.

Members of the Computer Club

Continuing a tradition of fundraising in support of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the CHC Computer Club hosted its first annual Extra Life 24-Hour Video Gaming Marathon on campus in October, raising more than $900 for the hospital.

Several CHC faculty and staff members joined their peers from four other local institutions at Haverford College January 16 for the first of four workshops scheduled this semester around the topic of “Access to Learning.”

We don’t refer here to the March Madness of brackets and basketballs, but rather to a week in March that is full of activities—workshops, presentations and even a Carnival—developed by the staff of Career Development.

Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Corrections, John Wetzel, will visit CHC on February 19, and make a presentation to the College community at 1:30 p.m. in the East Parlor. His topic is “A 21st Century Penitentiary Model,” and the program will be followed by a reception in the Rotunda.

Chestnut Hill College is celebrating a BIG birthday with a BIG party. Your CHC turns 90 years old this year, and we plan to pull out all the stops on Saturday, May 16, for a gala celebration.

Alumni, faculty, staff and students continue to make news and local news outlets continue to take notice. Griffins in the News lists some of the noteworthy mentions in the past weeks.

Chestnut Hill College Reunion Logo

The Alumni Relations Office has been a beehive of activity while preparing for several major events on the horizon. One beloved event is coming up fast. Reunion Weekend is right around the corner and those who attend know it's a not-to-be-missed occasion.

CHC received some welcome publicity from an unexpected quarter with the publication of an essay by Mark Casasanto, whose daughter, Julianna, is a freshman.

Only a few months after CHC joined the Collegiate Sprint Football League, Lynn Tubman, director of athletics and recreation, announced the addition of women’s bowling to the College’s athletic roster.

Coming Events

A great place to keep track of all campus events, activities and public lectures at the College is through our community-wide calendar found at www.chc.edu/calendar.
