If you have already received your teaching certification or are close to receiving it, you will want to take note of a special event coming up on Wednesday, April 6, at the Expo Center at Oaks. The Teacher Job Fair is an excellent way for aspiring teachers to meet prospective employers face-to-face.

“Many of our students have gotten teaching positions by networking at this fair,” says Nancy Dachille, director of career development and an event co-chair. “This year, we have 204 school districts from across the country that will be represented at the venue, which is one of the largest in the country.”

Delaware Valley Education Consortium (DVEC), which has 24 college/university members, has run the fair since 1994, when 100 school districts/employers and 1,680 candidates participated. More than 2,000 teacher candidates currently take advantage of the fair to meet with school district employers who come from around the country to find qualified teachers. The fair is open to graduating students and alumni of both consortium and non-consortium schools.

Visit www.dvec.net for more information. Pre-register at the Office of Career Development by March 31. Contact Andrea Boyle at boylea@chc.edu or 215-248-7109.

Admission to the event begins at 9 a.m. for those who have pre-registered and is only $5. Those without a registration will be admitted beginning at 10 a.m. and admission is $10 at the door.
